Greg Gates - Profile

How did your trip to Georgia Tech go today?

"It went real well. I liked everything about the trip and really enjoyed my time up there."

What did you get a chance to do?

"Well, we toured the campus which I liked very much. The coaches showed me around the stadium. I liked the field a lot. We then went into the locker rooms, equipment rooms, and weight rooms. I really liked the weight room a lot. I like hitting the weight room and working out and Tech has a very good weight room."

Did you talk to the coaches while you were there?

"I talked with Coach Buzz (Coach Buzz Preston) and all the other assistant coaches. Coach Buzz talked with me about how great an education from Tech is and that Tech has a great business school. All the coaches said they loved the way I run the ball and like me a lot as an A-back."

I'm guessing that you will be a business major in college?

"Right now I am undecided as to what major I want but I feel Business Management is one that I will eventually decide on in college."

Did you get an offer from Tech on this visit?

"No sir, not on this trip. The coaches said it was too early in my recruitment for them to extend an offer."

Do you have any return trips planned for Georgia Tech?

"Yes sir, I do. I plan on going back up there with my coach for their spring game."

What other trips do you have planned for the spring?

"I am going to Georgia on the 28th of this month for their Junior Day and then go to Western Kentucky on April 4th for a visit there."

Are all the schools recruiting you as a running back?

"No sir, not all of them. Georgia Tech definitely wants me as an A-Back. Wake Forest and Louisville has told me they want me as corner back. A lot of the MAC conference schools like Ball State are recruiting me as a running back."

When it gets time to decide on a school what will be the main factor that goes into that decision?

"I want to get a quality education. I want to put the work into getting a good academic degree. I plan on going to college with the idea that I am going to get my education and playing football is a means to get that degree."

Do you have a time frame set for making a decision?

"No sir, not at all. I plan on using my senior year to decide and hopefully help me with my recruitment. I don't see me deciding before my senior year is over."

At this time do you have a leader or top five?

"No sir, I can't say that I do. It is way too early in the process for me to say one school is front of another."

How does your high school look for your senior year?

"We look real good. I think we will have a real good season this year. I am looking forward to the season."
