Perkins: "Georgia Tech is a solid fit for me"

In spite of getting two new offers from Vanderbilt and Wake Forest, Collins Hill running back Charles Perkins cleared up any doubt that he is a solid Georgia Tech commit.

Charles Perkins - Profile

How have you been doing these past few weeks?

"I have been doing very well. Track season has started and we just had a track meet this past Saturday. It was cold and rainy so everything was slow for the day but it's nice to get going despite the weather."

What events do you participate in for your high school?

"I run the 100, 200, and 4 X 1 events."

Do you have any meets coming up?

"Yes sir we have a big meet that starts this Friday at Georgia Tech. I will be there the entire weekend. I can use that time to see more of Tech and get a chance to talk to the coaches while I am there."

Have you given it much thought about doing both in college?

"Yes sir I have. If I can get my 100 time down to 10.5 or better I will consider running track in college as well as playing football."

Speaking of college, how are you with Georgia Tech and your commitment?

"I am very solid to Georgia Tech. I told Coach Johnson I was coming there and I plan on being there. In fact I have been talking to JaWuan James and Max Garcia a lot about coming to Georgia Tech with me. I want to part of a great class and I would love for these two offensive linemen to come in with me."

I heard you picked up two offers?

"Yes sir, both Wake Forest and Vanderbilt have sent me official offers and said they will be recruiting me until I enroll into Georgia Tech."

What have you told the coaches at these schools?

"I told them I will listen to what they have to say but I let them know that I am very solid to Georgia Tech and that I will not be changing my mind. Georgia Tech is a solid fit for me."

Do you plan on going to any spring games or practices?

"The only spring practices or games I will be attending will be the ones at Georgia Tech. I don't need to see any other teams."

Dale's Take:

Charles was very adamant about his commitment to Georgia Tech. He will be visiting most of if not all the spring activities at Tech including the spring game. On a personal note, when talking with Charles, his voice sounds like Jim Brown. If he runs like Jim Brown as much as he sounds like him, then Tech is getting a great back. He is rated as one of the best backs in the state for the 2010 class. Top Stories
