Kyle Woestmann - Profile

How did your day go at Georgia Tech's spring game?

"I had a really good time there. I hung out with Jay Finch, Ray Beno, and Denzel McCoy. I got to know Jay and Ray better and they are very good guys. Denzel and I are very good friends and it was good to hang with him at Tech. Denzel had a few friends with him that he is trying to recruit to Tech. He talked to me about it some too."

What else did you do?

"I sat in on the offensive line position meetings and talked with Coach Sewak and Coach Spencer a lot. They told me that they hoped I would come to Tech and be a part of the team they are building. The practice showed just how good their offense would be in the fall and I feel they will win the ACC this coming year and have the makings of a team that will push for a national championship or at the very least a high BCS bowl game. I like the looks of Georgia Tech on the playing field."

Do you still want to play defense or are you open to switching over to offense?

"Actually my priority is to play defense but if the school that I feel is right for me really wants me on offense, then I am open to moving over to that side."

What offers do you have at this time?

"I have offers from Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, and Maryland. I am hearing from Duke, East Carolina, Auburn, and Georgia has started contacting me since I went to their spring game. I think a lot of offers will come during my spring practice at my high school. A lot of schools have said they will be there to see me and another teammate of mine, so we will have a lot of coaches at Walton during our spring practice."

Are you done for the spring other than your spring practice?

"Yes sir, I am done and I will probably be done for the summer too. I don't plan on making any camps this year. This is my last year of high school and I really want to enjoy it. During the summer I will lay everything out on the table and decide which school I like the best and have a decision made by late July or early August. We start school the first week in August and I want to have my decision made by then. I want to enjoy my senior year both on the field and at school. I've really worked hard over the years and put in a lot of work to get to this point and I want to enjoy it. I am about ready to be done with my recruiting."

What will be the factors in making your decision?

"I have basically three things I will be looking for in a school. One, the school has to have the major I want. Secondly, playing time is a factor. I know I will mostly likely red-shirt but I want to be able to see the field with hard work. Will it be by my second year or by my fourth year will be the question that plays in the decision. I just want to be able to get on the field and help my team. I have a good work ethic and will do what it takes to get playing time. Lastly, I want to be around good people, ones that I enjoy being around. The atmosphere and the people really help you enjoy your time in college. Good people and good surroundings are important. I enjoyed being around the guys at Georgia Tech and when I was at Vanderbilt, I made friends with about ten people real quick and we hung out a lot at their spring game."

Dale's Take:
You can tell that Kyle has a plan all laid out and he is following that plan closely in making his decision. Before he starts his senior year, he will have already decided which college he will attend. He says this is an important decision as he wants to make the right choice because the school he goes to will be one that he wants to enjoy for the four to five years that he is there.
