Lamar Morgan of Copperas Cove, TX has been considering the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets for some time now. The talented prospect had some good things to say about the Yellow Jackets in a recent interview. "I like my position coach (Curtis Modkins- defensive backs) at Georgia Tech. I like the opportunity to play up there in that Conference. At Georgia Tech they have a couple of secondary guys leaving. They are going to move some guys around. I could probably play as a redshirt freshman."
The main competition for Morgan will come from TCU. "TCU is a different kind of school. I like the small city atmosphere. At TCU they play four or five guys back there (in the secondary)."
While his decision on which school to attend has not been made yet, Morgan does know what he is looking for in a school. "I just want a good education. How I get along with the position coach, how long the Head Coach will be there, and team chemistry are things I will look at."
Morgan is looking to play free safety on the next level. "You can see the whole field. You are like the quarterback on defense." Playing free safety as senior, Morgan racked up 113 tackles, five interceptions, four forced fumbles (1 touchdown), and three fumble recoveries. Those numbers garnered him All-State and All-District honors. With a 3.83 GPA Morgan should have no trouble qualifying. "I will have a decision before National Signing Day."
