Bruce Ellington - Profile

How has your recruiting been this year?

"It has been really good. I've enjoyed the process so far. It looks like it will be picking up this summer."

Has your high school started their spring practice?

"We just started today and it will run through the next two weeks. Coaches have said they will be coming by to see our team practice and get a better look at the players on the team."

Which school has been recruiting you the hardest?

"Right now at this time, I would have to say that Clemson and South Carolina have been recruiting me hard in football. Auburn has been talking to me a lot for basketball. I know other schools are picking up their interest in me too."

Which schools are the ones turning up their recruitment for you?

"Georgia Tech has been talking to me a lot. They want me to come to their summer camp in early June and I plan on being their and participating in the camp."

What other camps will you take part in this summer?

"Georgia Tech will be the only one that I go to this summer."

Is Georgia Tech a school you are seriously considering?

"Yes sir, I sure am. I feel that they are a good school and I will see what they have to offer."

Okay, do you have a top list of schools, let's say a top five?

"I do. My top five are Clemson, South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Georgia, and Florida."

How many offers do you have to date?

"Right now I can't recall all the offers I have thus far. I do know that the state schools, both Clemson and South Carolina have offered."

What will be the main factors you will use to choose your college?

"I want to go to a school that has outstanding academics. I want a good education. Next, I would say that the coaching staff would be one that plays a big part of my decision. I want to play for great coaches that can get the best out of the players. Finally, the atmosphere at the school will be a factor. I want to feel comfortable at the school."

How about the style of offense the team runs. Do you prefer a spread option offense, a pro style offense, or one that is passing offense?

"It really doesn't matter to me as I have played many positions on offense. This year, I am being put at quarterback after playing elsewhere in the past."

What do you feel are your best traits as a football player?

"Well, I am very quick and fast. As a wide receiver, I can block and make catches."

What do you feel you need to work on before you enter college?

"I'd like to get stronger and while I can make the catch, I want to be able to be very reliable as a receiver if I play that position."

I noticed you said Auburn is recruiting you in basketball. What position do you play there?

"I am the point guard on the basketball team."

Do you feel you are better at one sport over the other or like one better than the other?

"Not really. I feel that I am equally good at both sports and I really like both. I'd like the chance to be able to play both in college, that's how much I like both sports."

What are you measurables?

"I am 5'9" and weigh 185 pounds and run a solid 4.4 - 4.5 forty."

Dale's Take:

Bruce was very quiet to start off the interview but he started opening up as we talked. He likes both South Carolina and Clemson a lot right now and says they are his top two but he is very open to his recruitment and is looking forward to the summer camp at Georgia Tech. How that camp goes and the relationship he makes with players and coaches will be something that might swing his recruitment another direction.
