Isaiah Johnson Is A Yellow Jacket

Sandy Creek High School continues its pipeline to Georgia Tech. Today, safety Isaiah Johnson committed to Paul Johnson and the Yellow Jackets. Isaiah, long thought to be a heavy Georgia Tech lean, becomes the third DB to commit in the 2010 class, and the fifth overall.

Isaiah Johnson - Profile

Isaiah, how has camp been thus far?

"It has been great. In fact it has been so good that I made it official that I will be coming to Georgia Tech this fall. I committed to Coach Johnson this morning. I have known all along that Georgia Tech was the place for me and now this makes it official."

What made you decide to go ahead and commit today?

"Well this is what I have wanted all along. I didn't want to miss my opportunity and decided to go ahead and make it official. I love Georgia Tech as it has everything that I want in a school and it's where I want to be. I just decided to step up and do it and let everyone know what I have known all along."

What did Coach Johnson have to say to you when you broke the news to him?

"He had a big smile on his face and told me that I just made his day. We had a real good conversation. Talking with him made me know that I made the best decision I could for myself."

So you are through with your recruitment?

"Oh yes sir, I am. I will not be talking with any other school. I will not visit any other school, and the only visit I have left is when I make my official visit to Georgia Tech."

While you are at camp, are you going to recruit any other players to come in with you?

"Yes sir, I am. I will be working Ryan Ayers to commit to Georgia Tech today too. I understand B.J. Bostic has committed to Georgia Tech too, so maybe the two of us can get Ayers to commit to Georgia Tech."

Dale's Take:

Isaiah sounded like he was on cloud nine. He has let me know in the past that it would take a miracle for him not to come to Georgia Tech but wanted to make sure as this is a huge decision. He said he had a good feeling heading into the camp and decided it was time to make it official. With B.J. Bostic and Fred Holton already committed to Georgia Tech, Isaiah makes a 3rd DB for the 2010 class. If Isaiah, B.J., and Fred can get Ayers to come aboard, they will form a terrific freshman tandem in Georgia Tech's defensive backfield.
