Jon Lee out of Apalachee, Georgia was one of the attendees at the elite camp at Georgia Tech. Jon had a great performance there and left a very favorable impression on Coach Johnson and the rest of the coahcing staff. Jon will now turn his attention to some July camps as his recruiting process starts to heat up.
Jon how did your day go at Georgia Tech's Elite Camp today?
"I had a really good time and really enjoyed being there with a great group of players. Long-time friend and current GT commit, Charles Perkins and I talked a lot as we have been friends since rec ball in our younger days."
What kind of numbers did you put up?
"I ran 4.4 forty. I had the fastest shuttle time at 4.08 and the highest vertical jump at 37 ½ inches. We also did some one on one drills too. There was this one guy, Reggie Whatley that ran a couple of low forty times. We talked a good bit as played one another in the playoffs last year. All in all we had a great time and Georgia Tech and the coaches treated us great."
Did you get a chance to talk with Coach Johnson?
"Yes sir I did. He said he was very impressed with me and really liked my camp performance. He said he will continue to recruit me hard but he wants to evaluate all the personal before handing out more offers at this time because of limited scholarships they can offered this year. We had a real good talk face to face talk and I really like him. Time will tell about my offer and how I fit in with the Yellow Jackets.
Is Georgia Tech still high on your list?
"Yes sir very much so. I really like them a lot. Georgia Tech is close to home and the campus is great, really nice. They are up there for me."
What is next on your visits for the summer?
"July will be real busy for me. On the 18th I will go to a camp at Auburn and then on the 19th I will take in Vanderbilt's camp. I will go to Mississippi State on the 24th too. I am looking at attending camps at Wake Forest and Purdue as well. I will continue to look around and see what is out there."
What offers do you have right now?
"I have one offer and it is from Air Force. I am hoping that these camps and my performance at them will garner me more offers over the summer. Plus I want to make my decision after my senior year of football so I can use my senior year to show the coaches what I can do on the field."
Do you have a list of schools that you like the best right now?
"You can say that I like Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, Wake Forest, Vandy, and Oklahoma State."
When do you start football practice for your high school?
"Our first practice will be the first week of August and our first game will be sometime at the end of August. We will do a lot of morning workouts to escape the heat."
Jon really enjoyed his visit to Georgia Tech and enjoyed the camp a lot. Even though he didn't get an offer today, I feel that if he did he might have pulled the trigger and made a commitment as he really likes Coach Johnson and Georgia Tech. Like Coach Johnson told Jon, time will tell when he gets that offer.
