Union Grove High School defensive end Anthony Williams is close to making a decision on his college choice. Who will Anthony choose between Georgia Tech and Florida State? Anthony gives us some insight on which school that might be and tells when he plans on making his decision.

Anthony Williams - Profile

When we last spoke you were basically down to two schools. Is that still the case?

"Yes sir it is. I am definitely down to Georgia Tech and Florida State. I still have a bit more thinking to do on the schools before I make my announcement."

So, does that mean you have timetable for your decision?

"Yes sir, it does. I know I will not announce before school starts but I will definitely announce before my first football game on August 22nd. That will be a preseason scrimmage with Vigor, Alabama, one of the top teams in Alabama. We play them and Jackson High School will be playing a team from South Carolina."

What are some of the things that make Georgia Tech one of the leaders for you?

"Well, I have good friends on the team already in Kyle Jackson and Steven Sylvester. I am very good friends with Denzel McCoy, Charles Perkins, and Isaiah Johnson. In fact, Isaiah and I played together during our first seasons of recreation ball when we were younger. It is close to home and I can have my family and friends come up for every home game. Tech has a lot of pluses for them."

How about Florida State? What are some reasons they are up there with Georgia Tech?

"I made a pretty good friendship with Corey Miller who has committed to them. It is not that far from home either. Florida State has pluses for them too."

Basically it boils down to wanting to stay close to home with your friends or go to a school with a new friend and pretty close to home to see new experiences?

"You could say that. I like the fact I can come home if I go to Tech but I like the fact I can meet new people and be out on my own a bit with the distance from home to Florida State. I just have to decide which means more to me. I have an idea but I will use the next two to three weeks to make sure."

After your first week of practice, how do you feel about the upcoming season?

"Well, it has rained pretty much every practice but it was good to get out on the field and get ready for the season. Practices have been real intense and we have been getting at in practice. I feel we will be much better than last year. MLK and Mack Brown will be tough and if we get far enough in the playoffs Northside and Warner Robins always field great teams. Our region and classification is always a tough one. I am looking forward to the season.

Dale's Take:

I wish everyone could talk with Anthony. He is a very well spoken young man and always says yes sir or no sir when answering questions. With each time that I've talked to Anthony, I could tell that his college choice was becoming clearer. Whichever school he chooses will get both a good football player and a good person.
