You've gone through two weeks of practice and two scrimmages. What are your thoughts on those two weeks?
"It was what I thought it would be. It was very hard at first. It was a really big process. I had to learn a lot of plays. It was a really big adjustment for me."
You seem to have gotten more reps with each day of practice. Any idea whether you'll play as a true freshman?
"I have no idea. They've had me rotating with the ones and twos. They'll have to break down the film and make a decision. I guess today's scrimmage will determine some of that."
How do you think you did out there today?
"I think I did pretty good. I think I did some things better."
A lot of people are trying to turn you into a defensive tackle, but I know you love defensive end?
"Oh yeah, I love defensive end. That's the only reason I came here. I came here to play defensive end, and that's where I'm going to stay."
Was there anything you were working on during the summer to improve?
"The summer was mainly lifting and agility workouts. The older guys tried to get us in there a little bit on Mondays and Wednesdays. They tried to go over plays a little bit, but it was basically agility work and us trying to get back into shape."
What do you consider to be your strengths?
"I think I take on run blocks pretty well. I know I can work on my pass rushing, a lot actually. I think for the most part I can contain the run pretty good."
How has the adjustment been from high school to college?
"The summer classes that I had really weren't too hard. If you ask me about a week from now, I'll be able to tell you."
Have you set any goals for yourself for this season?
"I came in and I just want to contribute. However it is, I just want to contribute because I know we have a chance to be something special. Whatever that is, I want to make a contribution to that."
Have there been any players on the offensive line that have been tough for you to play against?
"All of them have been giving me a hard time because all of them can cut me at any time. I really didn't go up against all of them so there isn't one in particular."
How was it going up against the cut block?
"The cut block is tough. As bad as I hate these knee braces, they may have saved my life with all the times I've been cut."
