How is the recruiting process for James been lately?
"The activity of James recruitment has picked up a lot recently. There have been a lot of coaches coming by James's school lately, talking to his coach and to James some. Just recently the new recruiting coordinator for Stanford came by. His predecessor took the head coaching job at Western Kentucky. Coach Durkin (who is also the defensive end coach too) talked with James' coach a good bit and caught up with James in the process. Also, Texas has been recruiting James a lot lately. I know when you and I spoke last time, Texas had not started recruiting James but they have shown a lot of interest in him lately. James is getting a lot of mail from Texas."
"Coach Garner was just in James's high school coach's office about a week or so ago and was talking about Georgia's interest in James. James and I were up in Atlanta for an unofficial visit to Georgia Tech. We had a chance to speak with Coach Paul Johnson a good while. James told Coach Johnson that he really likes Georgia Tech, especially the staff and the school itself. One question that James needs to decide on is if he really wants to go to college that close to home. He is okay with the fact that Tech is in a big city and Atlanta, he just needs to decide if he needs to get a bit farther away to go to school. Still, he really likes Tech though."
Has James decided anything on what bowl practices he might attend?
"No, he hasn't mentioned anything to me about it and we really haven't discussed what if any he will attend. One combine I know James is attending will be the Under Armour All Star Game Combine on January 1st. He and maybe two of his teammates may go together."
How about any Junior Days, has anything been set up?
"Nothing really set in stone at this time. I do know that we both want to go to some schools that we haven't visited so we can see what they are about. Stanford and Texas are two that we would like to attend. Please don't take that as we aren't interested in Georgia Tech or Georgia. We are but we have visited them a lot and can visit them rather easily. Still if there is no conflict with the other visits we still may make visits to both. Also, don't read in to it that Stanford or Texas is a leader for James as for a reason we want to attend their junior days."
How did James' high school season go this year?
"It went real well until Dekalb County's version of Black Friday happened. Sandy Creek ended our season and it was the end for all of Deklab's teams in the playoffs that night. Still, Tucker had a very good season and James played well."
Mr. Vaughters gave as much info as he could for James as he wasn't home and would be away for a few days. We had a good talk and got a good feel of what James is looking for in a school.
