Isaiah Johnson To Enroll Early At GT

Sandy Creek safety Isaiah Johnson's 95 yard interception return for a touchdown was instrumental in leading Sandy Creek to a semi-final win in the Georgia state playoffs last Friday. Isaiah talked to GoJackets.com about his upcoming state title game against Clarke Central, his official visit to Georgia Tech this weekend, and his plans for early enrollment at Georgia Tech.

Isaiah Johnson - Profile

I understand you have a big playoff game this coming Friday?

"Oh yes sir we do. We are playing Clarke Central for the state title at the Georgia Dome. It is a big, ball game and we are ready to play."

I read where you had a pretty big night last week in getting to the championship game?

"Yes sir, I have two interceptions and one of them a 97 return for a touchdown. It was a very good night for us. We came to play."

I guess a win could be a way for you to pay back Athens for Georgia Tech?

"(Laughing) Yes sir it would be nice, if we win, for that very reason."

Are you still planning on making your official visit to Georgia Tech this weekend?

"Yes sir, I sure am. All twelve commits will be there this weekend. This will be my Mom's first trip to Georgia Tech but it will be like another trip home to me. Still, I am looking forward to this weekend as it is a big one both for me in high school and my future at college combined. I am heading over right after the game Friday night."

Have they told you what they have planned for the recruits?

"From what I have read it will be like a bigger Junior Day. They will give us tours of the campus and the football facilities. They will talk to us and our families about how important the academics are at Georgia Tech and how the coaches will stress that we take care of our primary goal and that is to get an education. We will also tour the dorms and be assigned a player host. We will tour with him and hang out with our hosts during the night. I suspect since the twelve of us will be there together that we will at something hang out together as we are a pretty close knit group. After that, we will head back to hotel and get ready for the next day."

Have you gotten everything ready for your early enrollment?

"Yes sir, I've done my paperwork and all I have to do is finish this one class in high school and I will be there on January 11th. I've been looking forward to getting to Georgia Tech for a long time now and I have worked real hard to get everything in order so I can get to school and get an early start so maybe I can earn some playing time as a freshman this upcoming year."

Have you learned who your roommates will be once you get to Georgia Tech?

"I know there will be four of us together in the dorm. I know that B.J. (B.J. Bostic) and Charles Perkins will be two of the three roommates I will have when I get to Georgia Tech."

Dale's Take:

Isaiah is very pumped about his game Friday night against Clarke Central. He is also very pumped about getting to Georgia Tech. He has put in extra work so he can enroll early to get a head start on not only his football career at Georgia Tech but to also get a good feel on the academics at Tech. He is very glad his hard work has paid off and is ready to take that next step to college life as a student and football player.
