Lateek Townshend Holds Six Offers

Lateek Townsend is a 6'3" 213 lb linebacker out of Marlboro County High School in Bennettsville, South Carolina. The junior is highly sought after by many schools and he caught up with to discuss a little bit about his recruitment.

So Lateek, what schools are you currently hearing from?

"Well, I've got offers from East Carolina, South Carolina, Clemson, NC State, Illinois, and Maryland. I get a lot of info from Georgia, Georgia Tech, and LSU quite a bit. I'm also hearing from Florida, too."

Were you able to make any visits this past fall?

"Yeah I saw a couple games at South Carolina and a couple at Clemson."

What did you think of the South Carolina visits?

"I went to the Florida and Vanderbilt games. Florida was the most exciting as the crowd was packed, it was a pretty good experience."

How about the trips to Clemson?

"I went down to the FSU game, and also saw them play Coastal Carolina. I liked them pretty good."

What are your priorities when looking for the right school?

"Academics are the most important. I'm a people person so I should be able to fit in most schools. I won't get homesick or anything like that. I want to see the surroundings to see if I see myself going to the schools. With Clemson and South Carolina, I want to check into the academics, football-wise both are good."

How about the out of state schools talking to you, are you still interested in them?

"I'm still interested in them. I want to see some of them this summer."

So if teams like Georgia Tech and Georgia offered you, you'd be listening?

"Oh yeah, I would."

Lateek's high school team finished the season at 13-1 after losing in the semi-finals in the AAA playoffs. He currently has no favorite schools or a timetable for ending his recruitment. Top Stories
