Golson: "They are very interested in me"

Everett Golson is one the top quarterbacks in the Southeast. The Myrtle Beach, South Carolina junior is gaining early interest and already has a list of offers to consider.

Everett Golson - Profile

Everett, what are you current measurables?

"I am 6' 1" and weigh 180 pounds. I haven't been timed in the forty yet, so I don't know a true time for my forty."

How did you do in high school last year?

"I think I did pretty well. I had over 40 touchdowns out of the spread option offense we run. I can run or pass out of our offense, so I feel I can translate my abilities well to the next level in most any type offense."

Have you been invited to any Junior Days so far?

"I think Alabama has sent me an invite. My recruiting right now really goes through my head coach in football as I am playing basketball and we are trying to make a strong run to make the playoffs so all my spare time is focused on basketball."

What position do you play on your basketball team?

"I am the starting point guard on my team. It was tough for the team to start out the season as a lot of players on the team played football too and we struggled until football season was over. We are picking it up right now."

Do you have any offers to date?

"Yes sir, I do. I have several. I have offers from North Carolina, South Carolina, Clemson, Georgia, Virginia Tech, Stanford, Michigan, East Carolina, and Duke. I have had several conversations with coaches from Georgia Tech but they haven't offered me so far. They tell me that they are very interested in me, and that I should be hearing from Coach Paul Johnson in the future."

If Georgia Tech offers, will they be a team that you will be interested in as a college to play for?

"Yes sir, most definitely. They would be a team I would be interested in playing for."

Right now, do you have list of schools that you like the most?

"Right now I am looking at schools that have offered me and out of those North Carolina would be my top school and I am pretty much wide open after that."

Looking past Junior Days, have you given much thought as to which schools you would like to attend and watch spring practices?

"No sir, I haven't. I will get with my coach and we will discuss what schools would be the best for me to go watch spring practices. But so far we haven't had a chance to do that because of me putting everything into basketball and my school work. Once basketball season is over I think my recruiting will start to take shape and I will have a better grasp on what schools I like the best and ones I would like to visit."

I know a lot of football players run track to stay in shape, is that something you will consider this year?

"I have thought about it and I will probably go to some practices and workout with the team some but actually running track as a sport, I'm not sure if I will do that or not."

Dale's Take:

Everett is a very soft spoken young man. As our conversation went along, he opened up more and was more at ease in talking with me. Everett is very dedicated to what he is doing and gives it his all until that season is over, so his recruiting is taking a back seat to basketball for the time being.
