Attaochu Tech-Bound Thanks to Groh

Three-star LB prospect Jeremiah Attaochu (Washington D.C.) made his official visit to Georgia Tech this weekend. He committed to the Yellow Jackets while on the visit. He had been recruited by Coach Groh while he was at Virginia, and the GT coaching staff was hoping that this relationship with Coach Groh would continue now as the defensive coordinator at Georgia Tech.

How did your visit go this weekend?

"It was a very good visit that I really enjoyed."

What did you do while you were there?

"We got in on Friday and made a few tours around the campus and talked with the academic people mostly. I got to see some of the facilities. On Saturday, it was more of a detailed version of Friday. I got a chance to see the facilities in depth and talk with advisors and coaches. The tours were more detailed this time. I also had a chance to see Atlanta. On Sunday, I had a chance to talk with the coaches and Coach (Paul) Johnson. I gave Coach Johnson my commitment then. I decided that Georgia Tech had everything I wanted in a school."

What made Georgia Tech the place for you?

"It has everything I want. They have a very good balance of a great football program to go along with their great academics. The balance that I was looking for in a school was there. Plus I feel that I can come in and fit into the defensive scheme very well. All added up, it made Georgia Tech the place that I felt was the best place for me. My parents are very happy about my decision and that helps too."

How do you feel about Georgia Tech's campus set in downtown Atlanta?

"You really couldn't tell that it was when you were on the campus. It felt like any other campus at other school. I do like that if you want to do something; Atlanta has a lot to offer."

What do you think about Coach Paul Johnson since this was the first time you met him?

"He came across as a very cool guy, laid back but he knows his stuff."

How about Coach Al Groh, as I know he was recruiting you before?

"I like the idea of Coach Groh as my defensive coordinator and position coach. From what I was told, Coach Groh will have outside linebackers and Coach Brian Jean-Mary will coach the inside linebackers. Having a Super Bowl winner and former head coach as you DC and position coach is great. That was a huge positive for me in selecting Georgia Tech. I like the opportunity of having Coach Groh as my DC and position coach a lot."

What was your favorite part of the trip to Atlanta?

"I think sitting in on my position meeting was my favorite part. I loved seeing how they want the defense to be and how I can be a part of it. I liked meeting the coaches too."

Have you set up a signing day function?

"I haven't as my high school coach is planning something for all of us that are signing to play college football. I'll have to see what he has planned for us."

Dale's Take:

Jeremiah was extremely excited to be heading to Atlanta to play football and get his education. He said his parents are very, very happy about his decision and glad he had a tremendous time down at Georgia Tech. Jeremiah now is done with his recruitment and is happy to be playing for a program like Tech. He feels that having Coach Groh there was something that no other school could offer and he wanted to take this big opportunity given to him. Top Stories
