Terrance Smith - Make That a Grande

Southwest DeKalb High School in Decatur, GA has a long tradition of producing outstanding football teams and great players. This year was no exception with a standout, Class of 2011, Terrance Smith, a 6'4" 215 outside linebacker with all the tools. He is among the most prized recruits in the Atlanta area.

It seems like many of the top schools have already made offers to you.

"Yes sir. Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Auburn, Tennessee and some others."

Have you heard from the in-state schools?

"Yes sir. I've heard from Georgia Tech."

Have any of those jumped out in your mind?

"Yes sir. I've always been a big fan of Alabama and Clemson and I went to both schools for Junior Days this year."

It seems like you've got a tough choice?

"Yes sir. They're all good schools with strong traditions and great facilities. But Alabama and Clemson are on top."

How will you decide?

"The most important thing is the opportunity to play early and to play in big football games."

Who will help you with that?

"My mom; she always has the last word."

How about your academics?

"I have a 3.25 GPA and want to major in Business Management or Engineering."

What keeps you busy these days?

"I'm in track where I throw the shot and discus and run the 200. I also have a personal trainer."

Will you be attending any camps this summer?

"I'll be at some camps, like the Under Armour and Nike Combine."

You've got a nickname that speaks to how your teammates see you?

"Yes sir. I guess. It's kind of goofy, but the call me, 'Grande.'"
