Red Elephants Have Name to Remember

Gainesville High School (Gainesville, Ga.) has produced a number of standout football players. Their team is loaded again next season with 6'2" 260-pound defensive lineman Thomas Niles trying to continue that legacy.

Thomas Niles – Profile

Niles has not gotten any offers yet but is drawing interest from a number of schools. "I've heard from Georgia, Georgia Tech, North Carolina State, and Tennessee."

Thomas has gotten a chance to visit two of those schools." I was just at the Junior Day at Tech and have been to two of their games. I also went to Tennessee when they played Georgia."

Niles came away with a good impression of the campus and the facilities on his visit to Tech. "I liked it very much." Besides seeing the campus and the facilities he also had a chance to meet Coach Paul Johnson. "He seems like a good guy as is Coach Todd Spencer."

This early in the process two schools have an early lead for Niles' services. "I'd say that Georgia Tech and North Carolina State are my early leaders. They have shown the most interest in me."

Several factors will come into play when making his college choice. "I want to stay close to home but that will depend on playing time and whether they continue to show interest in me."

Football is not the only sport that Thomas plays at Gainesville High School. "I play on the lacrosse team to stay in shape." When he's not on the field with the lacrosse team Niles is working out with his teammates from the football team.

Niles is also taking care of business in the classroom. "I have about a 3.0 GPA. While he hasn't decided on a major that he'd like to pursue, he is thinking about a career in education. Top Stories
