More Outstanding Days Ahead?

Hillgrove (GA) High's Synjyn Days is a Georgia Tech football commit, Class of 2010. His brother Jabari is also being recruited for football. Now, their cousin, Rod Days, Jr. of Sagemont High School in Ft. Lauderdale, FL has caught the eye of college basketball coaches.

Things are heating up for the 6'6" junior wing forward. His Sagemont team has had a successful season and, thus far, has a successful playoff run. "We're in the (Florida) Regional Finals and we have a chance to win the 2A title."

Days recently appeared in the Old Spice Tournament on ESPNU and scored a career best 28 points. "It was a lot of fun even though we lost to a very good team," said Days. "I always like to play against the best competition…it seems to bring out the best in me."

The offers continue to come in for Rod. He currently has offers from Alabama, Boston College, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Miami, South Carolina, and Wake Forest.

At this point in his recruitment Days has named a top four with one school in the lead. "Number one is Wake Forest and then Georgia Tech, Miami, and South Carolina."

Academics will be one of the first things that Rod looks at in choosing a school. He'll also be looking at the campus life and the makeup of the team. "I don't have to start right away and proximity to my home is not that big an issue."

Days plans to make a decision over the summer with the help of his parents but ultimately, the decision will be up to him. He's already made visits to Florida State, Miami, and South Carolina. He and his parents plan on visiting Georgia Tech this summer. He has yet to meet the Tech coaches but knows that they've been to his games.

Rod hasn't talked to his cousin (Synjyn) since he signed his letter of intent with Georgia Tech for football. He takes comfort in knowing that he would know someone who is already going to school at Tech.

Days is also taking care of business in the classroom. He currently has a 3.3 GPA. His future plans may find him majoring in the field of forensic science. Top Stories
