Jared Boyd – Profile

Not much has changed since Jared Boyd spoke with GoJackets.com at the Scout.com Showcase right after he visited Georgia Tech's Junior Day. He is still waiting on his first offer.

"I'm hearing some from Georgia, South Carolina, and a little bit from Michigan. I hear from Georgia Tech the most, and also a good bit from Wake Forest and Miami."

Boyd was on Georgia Tech's campus again on the 13th with some other high profile recruits. It was another good opportunity for face time. "I got to talk with the coaches again," he said. "It was basically like another Junior Day with less people. I had more contact with the coaches and that was nice."

Jared said he talked with Coach Charles Kelly (who would be his position coach) and Coach Al Groh the most. His father played for Coach Groh at Wake Forest.

"Coach Groh talked to me about the defensive scheme and how it'd be if I was at Tech. He said they're pretty much not offering many defensive backs early. They want to make sure they have a good relationship with the guys they're looking at for when they do offer."

Former linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary had been Boyd's recruiting coach for Georgia Tech. That will be changing since Jean-Mary joined Louisville's staff.

Boyd, who measured in at the Scout.com Showcase at 5'10" 175 pounds, doesn't have any upcoming visits currently planned. "I will try to visit Miami over spring break," he said.
