Chris Milton - Five Offers So Far

Charlton County athlete Chris Milton had a huge year for the Indians as a junior. The 6'-175 quarterback passed for over 2,000 yards, rushed for over 1,000 yards, and scored 50 touchdowns.

In spite of those numbers, many schools are recruiting Chris at positions other than quarterback. Milton is being recruited to play wide receiver, running back, and defensive back. One school, however, is looking at Chris to play quarterback. "Georgia Tech has said they would give me a shot at quarterback if I signed with them."

Chris likes the idea of playing quarterback at the next level. "I'd love to be able to play quarterback but if that doesn't work out then I think I'd prefer to play defensive back." The offers have started to come in for Milton. He currently has five offers. "East Carolina, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Middle Tennessee State, and Purdue all have offered." Georgia Tech and Purdue are the two schools recruiting him the hardest. "I've hit it off real well with Coach (Lamar) Owens at Georgia Tech", said Milton. "I like him very much."

Milton has made two Junior Day visits thus far. He's traveled to Athens to visit Georgia and to Tallahassee to visit Florida State. "I liked the one at Florida State a lot." Chris had a chance to talk to the coaches and a few of the players on his visit. Milton was impressed with the facilities at Florida State.

Milton will continue to make visits this spring. He'll be coming to Atlanta to watch Georgia Tech practice and to have a chance to talk with Coach Paul Johnson. "I really want to get up there." Chris also plans to visit Purdue to watch their spring practices.

Chris doesn't have a favorite yet. "I'm pretty wide open at this point", Milton pointed out. "It's very early in the process for me." Milton has a good idea of what he'll be looking for in choosing a school. Academics are at the top of his list. "I want a good quality education to carry me in my future." The coaching staff will be important to Chris. He'll be looking at how they relate to the players and how they coach. The final thing he'll be looking for is a chance to contribute and play as a freshman.

Milton is planning on taking his time in making a decision. He'll make that decision when it feels right. "I don't want to shut out any opportunities but if the time and school feels right, I will make the decision then." Top Stories
