Zeph's recruitment is just starting to really heat up. His first visit during his recruitment this year was to Georgia Tech a couple weeks ago. "Georgia Tech was a fun visit. I really like it. It was a nice trip," he said. "I got to tour the whole campus and get a feel for the surroundings. I got to know the coaches and be with them face to face. They are some cool coaches; I just got to know them better."
The next stop for Grimes was to South Carolina last weekend. This was another visit he said he enjoyed.
"It was pretty good. I became a little closer with the players and got to talk with some of the coaches. They were telling me about how much I fit in. One of the coaches was joking around with me saying he didn't believe how much I benched at first (330 lbs). He said I was strong for an eleventh grader."
The next planned visit is to Illinois. Grimes says he'll be flying up there on April 2nd to take in the visit to Champaign. He will be attending a Nike camp this summer and also plans to attend a camp at Georgia Tech. That camp should be very important for his chance at an offer from the Yellow Jackets as a strong safety. "They said they're going to wait until camp before they give any offers out (at that position)," he said. "They want to get a good look at guys in person." Strong safety is the position that most every school is looking at him for, although he said some say they could see him ending up as an outside linebacker. Zeph has already grown to 6'0" and just under 200 pounds in the last year.
Grimes says he needs to visit more schools before he can think about narrowing down a list. However, he does have somewhat of a timetable for a decision in mind.
"I'll probably decide during my senior season. That way, I'll have fewer things to have to be thinking about at that time with school and football going on."
