Burch formerly played for South Effingham High School and his coach told him to call Coach Mike Sewak who put Tanner in touch with Georgia Tech Coach Lamar Owens. This led to his visit to Georgia Tech. "This was my first time on Georgia Tech's campus and I really enjoyed my time, said Burch. "I think it went very well."
Tanner had a chance to meet all the coaches and especially liked meeting Coach Al Groh. "I guess he's a legendary figure and I listened to what he was saying and watched him in action with the linebackers."
In addition to watching practice and talking to the coaches, Burch had a chance to walk across Bobby Dodd Stadium for the first time. "I was very impressed with all that I experienced."
At the conclusion of practice talked to the coaches and they said they liked what they saw on film and asked for more game film. "They also want to see me against competition at their summer camp and I'm looking forward to that."
Tanner's trip to Georgia Tech has not been his only visit. "I was in Athens and plan on being back for their spring game." Burch also is planning a trip to Columbia, S.C. to visit South Carolina.
Tanner has also been hearing from Furman, Middle Tennessee, and Vanderbilt. Tanner doesn't have any offers yet but indicated that he's been a Georgia fan. "That's been influenced by my parents who are big fans." Burch's dad was an All-American football player at Mars Hill, (N.C).
Tanner's parents only have one wish in his school selection. "My mom and dad want me to play where I'm convenient to home." In addition to attending summer camps, Tanner will be attending the EPS Combine in Lithia Springs in April. He currently has a 3.3 GPA.
