Julian Royal - Taking Some Time Off

Julian Royal, Milton High School (GA) forward, is taking a break. He's been at it for nearly nine months straight between AAU ball, the regular season, and Milton high school's run to the 5-A State basketball title in Georgia.

Now that the season is over and he's on spring break, Royal has been taking it easy and relaxing. "It's been a long season and I'm just taking some time off."

Royal's junior basketball season concluded with Milton winning the state championship as Julian led his team in scoring in the championship game. The response from his friends and family after the game kept Julian on the phone. "My cell phone about blew up after the title game; it was crazy."

During the season, Julian didn't have time to think about recruiting. "My father handles most of that but I think it's been pretty quiet. The two of them have not taken the time to set a list of favorites from the schools that have offered. Royal has received offers from Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Northwestern, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest.

Royal's plans for the summer include two NBA camps. One will be to the Amari Stoudamire camp in Chicago and the other to the Lebron James camp in Ohio. Royal doesn't have a visits planned at this time. He'll be playing AAU ball with some of his Milton teammates.

The 6'8" Royal currently has a 3.0 GPA. Looking ahead to next season, Milton returns most of their team and the expectations will be high once again for another state championship.
