Elder had visited Atlanta before but this was his first trip in quite some time. "I enjoyed the campus, watching practice and we went to a Braves game," said Elder. "I also got a chance to see Tech play Clemson in baseball."

Before he left Atlanta, Elder talked to Coach Paul Johnson and was invited to their June 12th summer camp. "Coach Johnson said he liked me physically, but needs to see me play in person," said Elder. "The camp will do that."

Elder is being recruited by offensive line coach Todd Spencer. "We talk about every other week." The trip to Atlanta and his relationship with Spencer have led to Tech being in his top three. "I'd say Tech is among my top three along with Northwestern, and Boston College." Elder feels that all three schools are even at this time.

Nick currently has offers from Air Force, Rice, and Wyoming. "I'm also hearing from Baylor, Arkansas, and Iowa State." His decision on a school will probably be made at the end of his senior year.

Elder's decision will be based on academics. "I want to get a good education. Geography will not be a concern for him in making that decision. He currently has a brother who plays for a division three school so playing close to home will not be a factor.

Speaking of academics qualifying for the school he chooses will not be a problem. Elder currently has a 4.0 GPA. Elder is currently throwing the discus for his high school team. He's also working out with a trainer. He'll be hitting the summer camp circuit once competes his school year.

When the time comes to make his college choice, Nick will be sitting down with his parents and the three of them will talk about his options.
