Chris Milton - Eleven Offers and Counting

Charlton County athlete Chris Milton began the evaluation period with several schools stopping by his high school. One of those schools, Louisville, left behind a written offer for Chris.

"Several schools have come by my school and talked with my coach," said Milton. In fact, Louisville dropped off an offer for me." The offer from Louisville brings Milton's total to eleven.

Another school that is showing a lot of interest in Milton is Georgia Tech. "Coach Owens came by and talked with my coach," said Milton. "He mentioned to my coach that Georgia Tech is really interested in me coming there."

Georgia Tech is recruiting Milton as an A Back. "Coach Owens told my coach that they were only taking a few A Backs and they already have a commitment from one." Georgia Tech would like to see Milton as one of those A Backs.

While Coach Owen is a new coach at Tech, he and Milton have already established a good relationship. "He is young and closer in age to me than the rest of the coaches recruiting me," said Milton. "I can relate to him and like him a lot." Milton also gets along well with Coach Paul Johnson. "Coach Johnson is a real cool and is a nice guy."

Another coach that Milton has formed a bond with is Wake Forest Coach Jim Grobe. "I was up there for the spring game but we didn't get a chance to talk that much as he had a lot going on that day."

Milton has three schools that he feels are showing him the most attention right now. "I will say that Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, and North Carolina are recruiting me the hardest right now." That has not led to Chris naming a top list of schools. "I'm looking at all of them and seeing which one I feel is the best fit for me."

Chris will be spending his summer attending camps. "I'm going to ones at Georgia, Auburn, Tennessee, and North Carolina." Georgia Tech and Florida State are two other camps that he'd like to schedule but some of the dates may be conflicting.

Not all of the schools are recruiting Milton at the same position. "Georgia Tech is recruiting me as an A Back, Georgia sees me as a wide receiver, and the rest of the schools want me as a defensive back."

Milton does have a preference right now but that is not one that can't be changed. "Right now I think I prefer to play defensive back," said Milton. "I talked with B.J. Bostic and he told me that while he was being recruited as a defensive back, he was moved to the offense." Milton knows that once you get to college you'll play the position they feel is best for you. Chris has plans to make his college choice at the end of the summer or sometime before his first game.
