Torrey Campbell - Tour of Georgia

Barron Collier (FL) athlete Torrey Campbell has drawn the attention of multiple BCS schools. Campbell recently spent a weekend in Atlanta visiting both Georgia Tech and Georgia.

Torrey Campbell - Profile

Torrey has accumulated nine or ten offers and numerous schools have stopped by his school to talk to his head coach during the evaluation period. Georgia Tech is one of those schools that will be stopping by this month. "When I was at Georgia Tech, Coach (Charles) Kelly told me he was coming down towards the end of the month of May to see my head coach."

Campbell was in Atlanta for Georgia Tech's spring game. Campbell arrived in Atlanta the Friday before the game and had a chance to see the school. "The campus was great," said Campbell. "I was told it was in a big city but when I got there it seemed like I stepped out of the city and was on to a laid back campus setting." The visit put Tech near the top of his list. "I had a good homey feeling while I was there and the experience was great."

While he was in town, Campbell made the short trip to Athens to visit Georgia. "I liked the Tech trip better because I was able to do more and see more." Campbell had already visited Georgia for their spring game and did more on that visit.

Torrey had a chance to talk to some of the coaches on his visit. "I talked to a good many of them and especially with Coach (Paul) Johnson and Coach (Al) Groh."

It appears that Tech may not be looking at him for one specific position. "I've been told I could be an A Back in their offense or I could come in as a cornerback; whichever position they feel is my best fit." Campbell has played running back and will be playing corner this season. "I talked with B.J. Bostic and he had the same experience I did when he came to Tech."

Campbell has quite a few schools that are recruiting him hard but a few stand out. "I think Boston College, Georgia Tech, Iowa, and South Florida are recruiting me harder than the rest."

In making his selection, Campbell has a few factors that he'll use in making that decision. Location may be one of those factors. "I don't want to go to a school out in the middle of nowhere." The biggest factor though will be how he feels at that school. "I'll ask myself if I can see me being at that school for four years."

Campbell hasn't set up a date for making that decision. "I will play it by ear and make a decision if the time feels right." Torrey doesn't feel it will be anytime soon. Top Stories
