Ryan Rhoomes, Prep School Before College

Benjamin Cardozo High School's (New York) Ryan Rhoomes plans to head to prep school for year. However, he may make a decision on what college he'll end up at before he takes off for prep school. Georgia Tech is one of the schools showing him interest.

Ryan Rhoomes is a 6-8- 224 center with a huge upside. Experts predict he will grow in stature and in basketball ability.

Rhoomes immediate plans are to go to prep school for a year after a stellar career at Benjamin Cardozo High School in New York City. It looks as if he'll be heading to New Hampshire for that year of prep school.

Ryan is beginning to see a lot of momentum behind his recruitment. "I have offers from St. Johns, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Pitt, and Providence."

The Cardozo product is rumored to be a fan of the Big East. "That's true," said Rhoomes. "I'm a bit partial to West Virginia." Historically West Virginia has done a lot of recruiting in New York. West Virginia will be his next trip. "I've visited St. Johns," said Ryan. That's my only visit so far as they're in my backyard and West Virginia is next."

Rhoomes has an impressive list of schools that are showing him interest. One of those schools is Georgia Tech. "I think that's right," said Rhoomes. "My mom is in charge of my recruitment." Ryan lives with his dad in New York and his mom lives upstate. She will be the one helping him with his decision.

After playing for Benjamin Cardozo this past season, Rhoomes will be heading to prep school this summer. "I leave in late August for New Hampton in New Hampshire for I hope one year." New Hampton plays a strong schedule that includes South Kent.

Rhoomes may be making his college pick before he leaves for prep school. "I hope to but at this point it's up to my mom."

Ryan was an MVP at a recent AAU tournament and has plans to be in Las Vegas for another AAU tournament in mid-July.
