Georgia Tech is hoping the 6'3", 185 pound point guard will have the time to stop in Atlanta to visit Tech's campus. Tyrone Johnson, rated the number seventeen point guard by Scout.com has been invited to visit Georgia Tech following discussions with members of Tech's coaching staff. "They want me to come down and if I can't sneak a trip in this summer then maybe it will be for a game later." Johnson has not received an offer from Tech.
Johnson has been busy this summer playing AAU ball and this past weekend he was in Charlottesville to display his talents with a new group of players at the NBA Top 100 Camp. "It was a good camp and it was a good experience learning from past and present NBA players like Chris Duhon, Antonio Davis, Jerry Stackhouse, and Cliff Robinson."
The top 100 recruits were divided into teams at the camp and played against each other for three days." I was there for four days and in addition to the training, we played two games each day."
Johnson has double digit offers thus far and no school seems to be recruiting him harder than the other. "I have offers from a number of schools including St. Johns, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Georgetown, Penn State and Virginia Tech," said Tyrone. "They're all even for now."
Before he makes a decision, Johnson will be looking for a school where their style of play fits him. "It's important that the school really wants me and that they provide a quality education." Tyrone currently has a 3.0 GPA.
As it's still early in his recruitment, Johnson hasn't set a timetable to make his college choice. He will be relying on those around him to make that decision. "My family and my AAU coach will help me make my decision."
