D.J. Hill has reached the point in his recruitment where he's looking to identify his favorite schools. "I'm in the process of narrowing the list of schools and I'm looking at top three or maybe a top five."
When asked to name that top three, Hill responded, "If I had a top three it would be Ole Miss, Virginia, and Vanderbilt and if I expanded it to five, Southern Mississippi and Middle Tennessee State would enter the picture."
Hill is getting different feedback from the in-state schools. "Right now Georgia Tech is recruiting me but I haven't heard anything in a while from Georgia so I guess they have moved on." Hill has been talking to Coach Joe Speed from Georgia Tech. "He told me that while they like me very much, they have offers out to a couple of guys that they would wait and see what they would do before they offer me a scholarship," said Hill. "He asked me to be patient and told me they just had a scholarship open up unexpectedly at my position."
An offer from Georgia Tech might change things for Hill when looking at his top three. "Georgia Tech would move right into the top three or four with the others and I would have to give them serious thought over the others."
Staying in-state is not a necessity for Hill. "I'd like to stay in the southeast or close enough where I could come home or my family and friends could drive to see me play." Virginia would be about as far as Hill would consider going.
Hill hopes to have his college choice made by the end of the summer. "By late July or early August, I'd like to have a school picked out and committed to them." As is the case with many recruits, Hill wants to be able to concentrate on his senior season without having to worry about recruiting.
Not all schools are looking at Hill as a linebacker. "Most schools are recruiting me there but a couple said they could see me playing safety and Middle Tennessee and Memphis said they want me at running back." The position he plays in college is not a concern to Hill. He'll be happy playing whatever position gets him on the field.
