The summer has been a hectic one for Vad Lee. "I was going back and forth between schools not knowing which way is best for me." Lee has taken a step back and has started looking at a few schools real hard. "Right now I have a top five and two of those schools I've been looking at real hard."
Lee named his top five but didn't want to reveal the top two schools that are getting his attention. "Georgia Tech, North Carolina State, Wake Forest, Maryland, and Duke are my final five," said Lee. "I've started looking at a couple real hard that I will keep to myself so I can concentrate on them without any distractions."
Vad has recently talked to one of the coaches from his final five list. "I talked with Coach (Paul) Johnson the past Thursday and I really liked talking with him because he's a winner and will make me a better player." Lee has coaches at each school that he likes which makes things difficult. He's also figured out that getting away from home isn't a bad thing. "South Florida was recruiting me real hard but that is a long trip and is too far for me." Lee feels that Georgia Tech and Maryland are the longest trips that he would take and still feel comfortable.
With his list narrowed, Lee is now taking a close look at each school. "I'm weighing my options and taking a look at what each school has to offer." His summer visits allowed him to get to know the coaches better and to see how they operate. "I have made some good relationships with a few of those coaches."
Lee is hoping to make his decision before the season starts. "I want to concentrate on my last year of high school football." Before he makes that decision, Lee wants to be 100% committed and sure of his decision. "Once I make my decision, I know I can't visit any other schools and I do not want to decommit from a school." Vad wants his decision to be made without any reservations.
Hillside Durham started practice this past week and they play their annual Blue and White scrimmage this coming Saturday. Lee was happy to have the 7 on 7's behind him even if they've only been practicing in helmets. "We are anxious to get the pads on and to start hitting despite the heat."
