New School in Picture for Desmond Floyd

Union County High School (S.C.) defensive end Desmond Floyd is being recruited by many of the teams from the ACC and SEC along with Central Florida. A new team has entered the picture and Floyd is planning his first visit to that school.

Desmond Floyd is happy with the way his recruitment has gone this summer. "I'm hearing a lot from Wake Forest, Duke, Central Florida, South Carolina, and Kentucky." A new school has also entered the picture. "I've talked to Coach (Todd) Spencer at Georgia Tech and they'd like me to visit." Georgia Tech would like Floyd to visit Atlanta to see what they have to offer both academically and athletically. "I hope to make it over there."

With school starting and football practice beginning, Floyd will most likely not be able to make that trip before the season starts. "I'm not real sure if I can make the trip before the season starts but I think I will make a trip to see a game and see what the school looks like on game day." Floyd knows he'll be able to see more on game day than he would if he attended camp or took the trip during the summer. "If I don't make it to a game, I will schedule a visit in the fall."

Two schools are paying Floyd the most attention right now. "I would say that Duke and Wake Forest are recruiting me the hardest right now." They are two of the schools that he'll be visiting this fall. "I know that I will visit South Carolina, Wake Forest, Duke, North Carolina State, and Kentucky."

Those schools won't necessarily be the five schools on his list for his official visits. "They might be on my list but I think I might use the official visits for other schools," said Floyd. "It all depends on how many more offers I have between now and the time we start taking the official visits."

At Union County High School, Floyd plays both defensive line and tight end. The 6'5" -240 Floyd has been timed at 4.89 in the forty. "Each school I have spoken to has said they want me at defensive end." Defensive end is the position that Floyd prefers.

Floyd is looking for a school where he feels comfortable. "I will also look at the coaching staff, the campus, fan support, and academics." He is looking to major in business. "I want a school that has a good business degree."

Desmond is not in a hurry to make a decision. He's weighing his options and appears to be wide open at this time. He's still looking at schools and trying to decide which one will be the best fit for him. Top Stories
