Rodney Hood Trimming List of 30 Offers

Mississippi has been a fertile state for high school basketball players and that doesn't appear to be changing soon. One of the best in that state and in the country at the small forward position is Rodney Hood. The 6-8, 195 pound senior from Meridian High School enhanced his lofty standing with a strong summer of play around the country.

While his AAU team didn't do so well in the AAU Nationals in Orlando, Florida, Rodney Hood had an outstanding tournament. Rodney showed that he has a good mid-range game and also showed that he can hit the three point shot.

While the Nationals were the last stop for most of the nation's recruits but not for Hood. He had one more stop before his summer ball comes to a close. "I'm in Jackson, Mississippi for an all-star game featuring guys from Mississippi."

With the AAU circuit coming to a close, August is the time for rumors about recruits and their favorite's lists. Hood is no exception regarding the rumors. There have been rumors that he has reduced his list to a smaller working number. "Not really," said Hood. "I hope to do that when I get home." Rodney stated that he couldn't name any favorites at the present time.

When he gets home, Hood will sit down with his parents and coach to start working on trimming his list. It will not be an easy job for Rodney. "I have more than thirty offers."

Among those offers are one from Georgia Tech. "I've talked to Coach (Paul) Hewitt and Coach (Darryl) Labarrie a number of times and I think they saw me at some of the AAU tournaments," said Hood. "I made an unofficial visit there last year and we've been talking about an official visit this year." Hood didn't get to see much of Atlanta on his first visit but hopes to make up for that on his next visit.

When Hood takes a look at the schools on his list he has one thing in mind that he'll be looking for from the school of his choice. "I'd say number one is going to be a school that will prepare me for the next level." Hood is also looking for someone that plays his style and a coach that can help him improve. At this time, Hood has not set a time to make that decision. Top Stories
