Rasheed Sulaimon is as Smooth as Silk

Rasheed Sulaimon is a smooth operating point guard at Houston (TX) Strake Jesuit College Prep, Class of 2012. Like most high school hoopsters, he's spent the summer playing in various tournaments and other showcases. The 6'3", 175 Sulaimon just returned from the final stop before school starts. His team made it to the Sweet Sixteen of a prestigious AAU event in Orlando, FL.

The offers have started to flow for the 2012 recruit Rasheed Sulaimon. "I've gotten a few more offers this summer," said Rasheed. "The latest are from Texas, Memphis, Oklahoma State, and Oklahoma." Sulaimon had previously received offers from Indiana, Oregon State, Texas A&M, and Baylor.

Even though he'll only be starting his junior year in high school, Rasheed already has a few schools that are recruiting him hard. "Texas A&M, Baylor, and Texas are recruiting me hard."

A new school that has entered the picture is Georgia Tech. "I've talked to the coaches a number of times and they tell me they're really interested." Sulaimon has not talked with them in so many words about getting an offer. "I believe there's a good chance one will be coming."

This early in the process Rasheed has three schools that he likes. "I would rank them in order…Texas A&M, Texas, and North Carolina." Sulaimon doesn't have an offer from North Carolina but there has been some contact.

The time to make a decision is still a ways off for Rasheed. "I'd say the end of next summer about this time is when I'll decide." Sulaimon will rely on his parents, his high school coach and his AAU coach to make that decision.

One of the things that Rasheed will be looking for in choosing a school is the ability to play early. "I want a coach with a good style that suits my running game, good academics and a team that has put a lot of players in the pros." Good academics are something Rasheed has taken care of in high school. He currently has a 3.7 GPA.

Sulaimon's style of play and personality has gotten him a nickname from his teammates. "They call me "Silk". Rasheed is smooth both on and off the court.
