The 6-5, 205 pound shooting guard is rated as one of the best basketball players in the country. He has maintained a torrid pace with his highly touted AAU team, The Oakland Soldiers, who have captured a number of titles this summer with an all-star cast. He talked about where his recruiting stands.
Jabari Brown recently narrowed his list of schools to seven. "My list is now Georgia Tech, DePaul, Connecticut, St. John's, Washington, Oregon, and California." Brown is not ready to name any favorites from that list.
What do these schools have in common? Jabari talked about what he's looking for in a school. "I'm looking for a school where I can fit in, one that shares my vision for my style of play, and a place where I can have a favorable experience on and off the court."
Georgia Tech is one of those schools. "I've talked to Coach (Darryl) LaBarrie a lot and I've also talked to Coach (Paul) Hewitt."
Brown is starting to set up official visits and in-home visits. A visit to Georgia Tech looks to be a strong possibility. "We've talked but nothing is definite yet."
Brown has been traveling all summer with his AAU team and he is not a stranger to Atlanta. I have been to Atlanta and I have an aunt there."
Even though he's trimmed his list to seven schools, Brown has not set up a time frame to make his college choice. "It will be after my visits are over," said Brown. "It may be in November or it may be some time during my senior year."
The decision won't be one he'll be making on his own. "I'll have help from my parents and my brothers."
Brown has not given any thought to the length of his college career. "However many it takes to help me get there to be able to fullfill my goal of playing in the pros."
