Georgia Adds No. 18

Georgia picked up the 18th pledge of the 2011 class on Sunday.

Ramik Wilson officially visited Georgia this weekend and left Athens as the Bulldogs' 18th commit of the 2011 class.

"Coach (Mark) Richt and coach (Todd) Grantham have a plan and want to have a great defense," Wilson said. "I want to be a part of that. That's what I'm down for."

Wilson, a native of Tampa, is a 6-foot-3, 218-pound inside linebacker. He held offers from Purdue, Rutgers and Texas Tech.

Wilson was offered by Miami a few weeks ago when Al Golden took over as head coach.

Wilson arrived in Athens Friday. He was on hand Saturday as the Georgia basketball team took down No. 10 Kentucky.

"The visit was good," he said. "I got to hang around a lot of their players. They showed me around town, inside the locker rooms and all that. I had a real great time."

Wilson was impressed with the Georgia facilities, he said. But the chance to be apart of the 2011 class was the strongest pull to become a Bulldog.

"They're bringing in a good recruiting class, and Georgia is going to be something," he said. "We're going to have a nice little defense and solid team."

Wilson is considered the 58th best player in the state of Florida.
