Hicks Receives Coveted Offer

Quayvon Hicks admits he's been waiting for an offer from Georgia for some time.

On Wednesday, the 6-foot-2, 257-pound athlete from Pierce County High School, received the news of his offer from the Bulldogs.

"Oh man it was great," Hicks said. "It put a big smile on my face. I've been waiting for a while to get that offer."

Georgia offered Hicks as a fullback, but the possibility of lining up on defense isn't out of the question.

"It really is depending on how big I get in the next couple of years," Hicks said. "It's all about where my body takes me. Right now, I'm a fullback, but I could grow into a defensive player down the road."

Hicks' athleticism gives him a varying range of options at the next level. He could play defensive end or outside linebacker if he ends up playing on the defensive side of the ball.

Georgia joins a list of schools in offering Hicks. Duke, Miami, Tennessee and Vanderbilt have also offered.

While it's still early in the process, Hicks is already formulating a way to determine which school is right for him.

"Education is a big thing in my eyes," said Hicks, who hopes to study in sports medicine or pharmacy. "I'm looking for a good feel; a place where I can be comfortable. I want to go somewhere where I can go make a difference and be somebody."

Hicks, who also wrestles and plays basketball, has a reported 4.80 time in the 40-yard dash.
