Top Prospects Visit UGA

A handful of top in-state targets for the University of Georgia spent Saturday in Athens and you can find out what they thought about their visit here.

Josh Clemons-Harvey, Jordan Jenkins, Ricky Parks, and Jordan Watkins were in Athens Saturday and they are all top targets for Mark Richt and the UGA staff in 2012.

Three of them talk about their time in Athens right here:

Jordan Jenkins - 6-3/233 - OLB/DE - Harris County

"It was an eye opening visit today. We had a great visit and we were actually going to cancel this visit too. From the start, we were ushered into the new building and we met with Coach [Todd] Grantham. We talked to him about where I would play in his defense. He showed us some film on exactly the spot I would be in and how I would excel in his defense. He told me he gets excited when he watches me on film thinking of what I could do when I am in college and later years. We even talked some fishing and he gave me some good ideas on bass fishing. Later on, we met with the academic support for student-athletes and I how much academics is really a part of UGA football. At the end of the day, we met with Coach [Mark] Richt and he said some things me and my family really enjoyed. I really just who Mark Richt was and he is a great head coach. I really like his morals for the team. I really like how he and Coach Grantham coach and how everybody gets a fair chance to play. I left with an impression I never knew I would get on Grantham. I like him as a man and I like his philosophies as a coach. I could see myself playing for him. I talked with Coach Richt again before we left and that just increased the amount of respect I have for him. I really appreciate the fact that he is trying to recruit players who can aspire to great leaders. This one visit moved Georgia into a solid spot in my top five or six."

Ricky Parks - 6-4/222 - TE - Callawayy

"I got to watch practice at Georgia today and my visit was good. After I watched practice, I ate lunch with some of the coaches and that was nice. I talked to Coach Richt some more and that was cool. We just talked about normal stuff and it was a nice conversation. At practice, I watched a lot of the tight ends and I like how Georgia uses them. They use the tight ends a lot, they keep them involved, and I like how they throw the ball to them. Some of their plays, they have the tight end as the primary target and I really like that. Georgia has talked to me about taking two tight ends and I know about Ty Smith being committed, but that does not matter to me. I know I will have to compete at whatever school I go to. I am fine with that and I still like Georgia a lot. Them and Alabama are my top two."

Jordan Watkins - 6-4/266 - DE - Woodward Academy

"My favorite part about my visit to Georgia today was the Journalism School. They have their own news station which the students run basically and it goes through 23 counties. They also told me that next year they are going to add a new field in sports journalism/communication, which is perfect. I got to go watch the scrimmage too and I ate some lunch there after that. I then went to the Student Athlete Resources Center and I learned a lot about their tutor/mentor set up they have. I talked to Coach Richt too and he was saying that he thought I could have great success there not only helping them win an SEC Championship, but also graduating, and growing spiritually if that is something I want to do."
