Perno: "We've got a shot."

ATHENS – With a 15-12 conference record, Georgia would be leading the SEC West.

But in the East, that mark is good enough for only fourth place behind Florida, Vanderbilt and South Carolina.

Georgia has qualified for the SEC Tournament, but a bigger goal is still in question. There is still work to do in securing an NCAA bid—and this weekend's series against Eastern foe Vanderbilt is the final chance for David Perno's team to pump up it's resume.

"We've got a shot, and we've got to do something special this weekend," Perno said.

The Bulldogs have played an SEC-high 27 games against ranked opponents this season—a stat that will surely help them acquire a bid. 13 victories over those top 25 teams will prove key as well.

Currently, the Bulldogs have the nation's top rated strength of schedule and are ranked No. 26 in the RPI.

But Georgia's overall record (27-26) isn't all that exciting from an outsider's perspective. Winning the Vanderbilt series could prove important when the NCAA selection committee makes it's choices.

Game one of the series has been chosen as the SEC Thursday Night Game of the Week on ESPNU and will begin at 7:30 p.m.
