"I'm just glad for the chance to push myself every down," Jones said. "For the chance to make myself better—to make my teammates better every play. It's going to be exciting.
"I really haven't paid attention to it, but I know people have a lot of expectations of me. I'm only human, so I can only do what I can. I'm going to go out there and do my best and just do what I'm capable of doing."
"We don't think it's serious—nothing that would require surgery," Richt said. "I guess the old day-to-day is the best way to describe it."
In the event Smith can't go against Boise, Damian Swann would be in line for playing time, with Jordan Love seeing an increased role from his current spot as the nickel. At this time, Richt said, Sanders Commins will remain at safety.
3. The team did practice in the Georgia Dome Friday night, and Richt let the team wear the Nike Pro Combat jerseys for the first time.
"That's two of the elements of the outside distractions," Richt said. "The stands weren't full and it wasn't live and all that kind of thing, but even when I walked in there you kind of get a feel what it's going to be like in a week. I think it was good for everybody to get in there. Until you experience it, it's going to be difficult."
"It was good for us to let some of the energy and all the excitement of being in the Dome out there," linebacker Alec Ogletree said. "A lot of guys have never played in the Dome or even been to it, so it took some of the edge off."
4. John Jenkins (hamstring) did not practice Saturday.
"He's still not ready," Richt said. "I'm hoping Monday. We really didn't expect him today. It's not 100 percent he'll be back Monday, but we're hopeful he'll be back."
Marlon Brown (ankle) was also held out Saturday, but is expected back Monday. Bruce Figgins (hamstring) and Ken Malcome (unknown) also did not practice.
5. Alec Ogletree says he's eager to get on the field and show what he can do as a linebacker.
"Right now I feel real good about the position," he said. "I'm still trying to get better at using my hands and working on where I need to fit at and stuff. Right now I feel pretty good."
6. Richard Samuel returned to practice Saturday and didn't wear a non-contact jersey.
"Richard got some work," Richt said. "He's getting there. I wouldn't say he's full speed, but we didn't really expect him to be today."
