UGA's interest has increased

Georgia will finally get two prospects they are watching closely out of Tennessee on their campus soon. They talked to Scott Lakatos recently and you can get the latest here.

Will Redmond and Sheldon Dawson are top 10 prospects in the state of Tennessee and Georgia has been working to get both of them on their campus since late in the spring.

It looks like that time will come not this weekend, but the next.

"I plan on visiting Georgia when they play Kentucky," said Dawson. "I have talked to Coach Lakatos a lot lately and he really wants to get me down there.

"I have interest in Georgia, so I want to visit them to see what it is like. Like most coaches, Georgia has been calling me an athlete. I could play running back or cornerback in college, but I would like the chance to play running back.

"I am still committed to Memphis and I guess a little part of the reason I chose them was because they wanted me to play running back. If Georgia told me corner, I would probably still talk to them.

"I really like how Georgia's head coach Mark Richt is laid back and just how their team is playing right now. My coach thinks I may already have an offer from Georgia, but I am not sure. We will find out when I talk to Coach Richt when I get down there."

Dawson is a 5-foot-10, 185 pound athlete that is a football player. He has good speed and he could play running back, cornerback, or safety on the next level.

Redmond will be in Athens at the same time as Dawson. Georgia wanted Redmond in Athens this weekend for the Auburn game, but the Mississippi State commitment had already told State coaches he'd be in Starkville.

"I have liked Georgia for a while, so I am ready to see what Athens is all about," Redmond said. "I saw them play on TV one time and I have been paying attention to them since. I really like how they play and I am looking at them.

"I talked to Coach Lakatos last Thursday and that is probably the 7th or 8th time we have talked. Georgia has definitely been showing a lot of interest lately and I will definitely be there for the Kentucky game.

"If Georgia offers me, it would mean a lot, and I would definitely consider them. They are Georgia, so they would have a good shot with me if they offered.

"I am still committed to Mississippi State, but I am going to take my official visits. Georgia, North Dame, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt are the main schools I am talking to right now.

"With Georgia, I am just continuing to build the relationship with them. Coach Lakatos tells me the staff really likes me and Coach Richt just wants to meet me and speak with me."

Redmond is a 6-foot, 171 pound corner with good length and solid ball skills.
