Hometown: Tarboro, N.C.
High School: Tarboro
Position: Running Back
Ranking on Scout: 107 overall and 13 RB
Recruiting: Gurley committed to Georgia over Clemson, North Carolina, and North Carolina State.
Analysis: Gurley is a back with the size many college coaches look for in a guy they want to feed the ball to. He has good straight-line speed and his speed is sneaky fast once he gets into the open field. He is a back that can make the cuts, but he is more of the downhill guy than the one that is elusive. What really stands out after you have scouted Gurley for a few years is his toughness. He plays through injuries, he is a true four quarter back, and he plays very hard. To improve his game, he can work on running better behind his pads, running lower to the ground, and accelerating a little quicker. Overall, Gurley is a very athletic back with the size to play immediately at the next level. He competes, he is capable of putting a team on his back, and he will bring that power running game between the tackles to his future offense. One last note, it is not out of question that Gurley could play on the defensive side of the ball. He could be a big safety or grow into a linebacker down the road, but he's best at running back right now.
