Theus wants to win in Athens

John Theus took his official visit to Georgia over the weekend and he is ready to take his winning ways to Athens.

"I have been to Georgia so many times that I have pretty much seen everything. I did get to go to Coach [Mark] Richt's house for the first time and that was nice. I got to eat dessert there, hang with the coaches, and I had a good time," John Theus said.

Theus feels so comfortable in Athens because he has been visiting there for around three years on a regular basis. He felt like one of the guys and he was doing some recruiting while there.

"I talked to Jaquay Williams and Georgia some. He seems like the kind of guy that likes the family atmosphere, so I talked to him about how close the players are at Georgia, how close the coaches are, and just the feel for the entire university. I talked to him about the class that we have coming in and how we are going to win some championships in the future there. I know he is committed to Auburn, but I had to tell him about Georgia, and how we'd like to get him."

Mark Richt would like to add Williams to his 2012 class too, but he has to be thankful for having a prospect like Theus already on the list.

The 6-foot-6, 303 pound five-star offensive tackle out of Jacksonville (FL) Bolles is a big part of this Georgia class and he could be a big part of their success in 2012.

"I have talked to Coach [Will] Friend about coming in and playing as a freshman and we have talked about that a lot actually," said Theus.

"He has told me what I need to do to get there, so I plan to go in there, work hard, and try to start next year. I just have to do my part and I will have the chance to play in the fall."

Theus plans to take more than his skill-set on the edge of the offensive line to Athens with him. He won a state championship in 2011 at Bolles and he wants to add some UGA rings on his fingers too while he's there.

"I have never had a losing season in my life and I do not plan to have one at Georgia. I have always been part of winning teams and I think Georgia is going to be another one.

"I am going to Georgia to win and it will be up to the players to do that. I expect Georgia to have a great four years while I am there and to win some championships."

If the Dawgs do that, then it will two Theus' that have rings on their fingers. Nathan Theus signed with Georgia year ago and he was the host for John over the weekend. John said he could have had better.

"Nathan did a horrible job as my host," John said laughing. "I was not taken care of and he did not show me anything while I was there. I felt like I was on my own. I will be giving him a hard time about being a bad host for a while."
