Jones Hoping for Long Career

INDIANAPOLIS – Ben Jones was in Jeff Saturday's stadium Thursday.

Now he hopes to have Jeff Saturday's career.

Jones, the former Georgia center, would like to model his game after Saturday, the longtime Indianapolis Colts center, Jones said here as he visited with the media prior to working out at the NFL Combine.

"He's a little under 6-2, very intelligent. He has played for a while know. I think I can come in and play and hopefully for a long time," Jones said. "I am pretty normal size for a center. I am 6-2.5, 305, good lower body strength. The game of football is about pad leverage and getting under guys."

Jones would like to be the first center selected in this year's draft, he said. And, he'd like to start as a rookie, he said.

"I am going to come in, and I'm going to work my tail off. I'm going to do whatever it takes," he said. "If the team needs me, I am going to be ready to play."

Jones takes the most pride in his intelligence and leadership, he said.

"I am definitely a leader," he said. "I can come out and get everyone on the same page on the offensive line and the offense. We've got one goal, that we're going to go out and win. I think I'm very good at that. One of my weaknesses is getting to the second level faster. I need to get on the backers a little quicker."
