Lumpkin, who should get lots of play this season at tailback, said that he was encouraged to finally be in Athens. "It feels good to be up here. The guys are teaching me everything that they know. I am trying to learn all of the plays right now," he said.
Lumpkin said that Gartrell is "adjusting well" to the college game. He said that the quarterbacks and receivers are working on routes and sets and that things appear to be going well.
"The quarterbacks are running the drills right now," he said. Lumpkin added, however, that the skill position players were not practicing with the linemen just yet. "Just the skill position guys are out there right now," he said.
Lumpkin is already getting used to a hectic schedule. He explained to me that his day starts off with a 7:00 am workout and then he is off to two classes in the morning.
After lunch Lumpkin said that he does strength training at 1:00 pm. "Then we get back together at about Four O'clock in the afternoon," he said.
