Players Disciplined for Downtown Incident

ATHENS--------Members of the University of Georgia football team who were present during an altercation in downtown Athens on Friday, June 15, have been disciplined by head coach Mark Richt. There were no arrests resulting from the incident.

Richt has spent the last several days interviewing all players who were present when the incident occurred as well as several non-football players who were involved.

"I have investigated the incident to the fullest extent and I can only say that some of our players were there only watching, some were trying to make it better, and some weren't," said Richt. "Based on all the information I have from both players and others who were there, I am going to impose internal discipline on all players who were present. In addition, Randy McMichael will be suspended from the first game for his participation in the incident."
