Bakas: News and Notes around Florida

Here are some news and notes on several prospects around the state of Florida.

* LB Ryne Rankin just landed an offer from Georgia today. At 6-foot-1 and 215 pounds, the East River High standout now has around 20. He's quickly become one of the state's most heavily recruited linebackers. Rankin was an all-state linebacker last season and plays with tremendous instincts and football IQ.

* WR Jeff Badet landed his first offer last night, from FIU. At 5-foot-11 and 170 pounds, the Freedom High standout had 718 yards and 11 touchdowns last season. That will likely be the first of many for one of the top receivers in the greater Orlando area.

* CB Javon Hadley landed his first BCS offer -- from Mississippi State. At 5-foot-11 and 170 pounds, the Miami Palmetto standout had previously been offered by Western Kentucky. A good cover guy, Hadley should see many more come his way this spring.

* RB Marcus Levy picked up two more offers this week -- from Mississippi State and Bowling Green. South Carolina had previously offered him. The Fort Pierce Central standout (5-10/190) was a first team all-state performer in 2011 and should continue being recruited like one of the state's best at his position.

* TE Mike Heuerman (6-4/220) is taking an unofficial visit to Miami today. The Barron Collier standout saw Notre Dame last week and also lists Ohio State (brother plays there) and LSU in his top four. He has offers from all four and is widely considered the best in the state at his position.
