Recruiting Picking Up for JUCO Safety

Offers are coming in left and right for junior college prospect Taj Letman.

A 6-2, 185-pound safety at Holmes C.C. in Mississippi, Letman was originally a standout at Elbert County High.

His first offer came from Georgia in February, but he's since picked up multiple offers from schools all across the country. Baylor and Texas were the most recent to offer.

"I've got a lot of schools that are really, really interested me," Letman said.

Letman plans to enroll at the school of his choice in December, but doesn't have anything settled beyond that. He wants to take visits this summer.

"Baylor has been talking to me about that," he said.

As for which offer currently stands out, Letman is clear.

"Georgia. I grew up wanting to go to Georgia," he said. "That being my first offer I was emphatic."

Defensive coordinator Todd Grantham offered Letman on national signing day. Since then he's spoken with all the defensive coaches and Mark Richt.

His conversations with Grantham have been specific about his potential use in the 3-4 scheme.

"He tells me I'm an aggressive, sure tackler," Letman said. "They want to play me at free safety, but they've got a lot of schemes for me to blitz and use my speed and athleticism."

Letman likes the Bulldogs, but for now he's letting the recruiting game play on. He expects more offers and plans to get more serious about visits soon.
