PALO ALTO, Calif. - The 2003 USA Junior and Senior Outdoor Track and Field Championships began Thursday at the Stanford University's Cobb Track and Angell Field. Several Current and former Georgia track and field athletes are competing at the meet.
In the first day of competition, former Lady Bulldog Katie McCoy placed thirteenth overall in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 59.14 meters (194'00"). Current Bulldog Lucais Mackay placed sixth in the men's hammer throw finals with a mark of 68.59 meters.
Former Bulldog David Lemen tied for third in the decathlon long jump reaching a mark of 7.38 meters. Lemen also finished sixth in the decathlon 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.58 seconds.
The USA Track and Field Championships continue through today. The meet serves as the national team selection meet for the Pan American Games, IAAF World Outdoor Track and Field Championship, World University Games, USA vs. Great Britain vs. Russia meet, and the USA vs. Germany decathlon and heptathlon meet.
