South: Weekend Commitments

It was an active weekend in the South and Scout takes a look at who made decisions over the past few days here.

  • Jarrad Davis - 6-2/210 - OLB - Kingsland (Ga.) Camden County
    Committed to: Auburn
Quick Hitter: Davis is a versatile linebacker who could play outside or inside on the next level. He has good size, good length, and he will strike the opponent.

  • Johnathan Ford - 5-11/190 - RB - New Hope (Ala.) New Hope
    Committed to: Vanderbilt
Quick Hitter: Ford has really burst onto the scene early in 2012. He is a back with quick feet, he makes quick cuts, and he has good speed.

  • Deon Johnson - 6-1/180 - WR - Spanish Fort (Ala.) Spanish Fort
    Committed to: Alabama
Quick Hitter: Johnson is one of the top play-makers in the state of Alabama and he has speed to burn. He can take the short pass to the house or get behind defensive backs for the big play down the field.

  • Bryce King - 6-4/288 - C - Dillon (S.C.) Dillon
    Committed to: South Carolina
Quick Hitter: King is a big offensive lineman who could play anywhere across the line if needed, but he is best in the middle. He is a top three center in the South and he has good experience at that position.

  • Tristan Mumford - 6-0/225 - MLB - Statesville (N.C.) Statesville
    Committed to: East Carolina
Quick Hitter: Some may consider Mumford on the shorter side for a linebacker, but he is plenty strong and plenty mobile. He can run, he is a hitter, and he will bring a physical presence to the middle of the Pirate defense.

  • Jasper Sasser - 6-2/185 - S - Jacksonville (Fla.) Wolfson
    Committed to: South Carolina
Quick Hitter: Sasser is a versatile athlete that could end up on either side of the ball on the next level. He has spent a lot of time at running back in high school, but Scout likes him most as a safety. He is an athlete with good size and solid speed.

  • Cameron Toney - 6-2/225 - MLB - Huntsville (Ala.) Huntsville
    Committed to: Auburn
Quick Hitter: Toney is a physical linebacker who plays with aggression. He likes to hit and he will take that attitude to Auburn. He has the size and discipline to challenge for early playing time.

  • Reggie Wilkerson - 5-11/170 - CB - Citra (Fla.) North Marion
    Committed to: Georgia
Quick Hitter: Wilkerson is an athlete with speed to burn. He committed to Georgia as a corner, but he could see time at safety, wide receiver, and as a return man there as well. He has been a prospect on the rise early in 2012.

This feature is focused on 2013 commitments, but a sophomore made his decision on Saturday too. Demarre Kitt is one of the top 2014 wide receiver prospects in the South and he committed to Georgia over the weekend. He is 6-1/191 out of Tyrone (Ga.) Sandy Creek.

Chad Simmons is currently a National Recruiting Analyst for FOX Sports/Scout. He started with Scout in 2003 and then moved on to another Recruiting Service from 2004-2008 before returning to Scout the first of 2009 to become South Recruiting Manager.
