Calvin Johnson attended the Georgia Senior camp last weekend, where he garnered rave reviews from a few of the quarterbacks and defensive backs in attendance. What did he like about his visit?
"I really enjoyed the 1 on 1 portion of the camp. There
were some good QB's there."
Did the camp change his mind about his leader board?
"I have no favorites. I'm basically looking at everybody
in the SEC."
Last night Sandy Creek competed against Landmark Christian in
a passing league game. Calvin Johnson has earned the Top 10 ranking in the
country by TheInsiders.com. He has a great frame at 6-5 and 211 pounds. He has
slender shoulders and can run like the wind. He does not have the frame to bulk
up to a tight end, especially when it is considered he runs a true 4.4 forty
time at his size.
He is a physical receiver that uses his body well. He is a
punishing blocker with excellent hands. Sandy Creek threw the ball about 15
times a game last season, but that number will likely go up this year, and
Johnson is poised for a monster season.
His recruitment sounds like it will go down to the wire, as
Calvin seems to be open as ever. Definitely an interesting recruiting war to
watch play out this season.
