Watkins to be in Austin

2014 Dallas area cornerback Nick Watkins, one of several Texas offers, will be in the stands of Darrell K. Royal Stadium Saturday when the Longhorns welcome in Baylor.

But until then, will be focused on his 3-4 Dallas (Tx) Bishop Dunne Falcons, entering a bye week off three straight lossses.

"We just keep losing it at the end. It's about finishing. That was our theme this year, to finish, but we're not doing that," Watkins explained. "We're going to use this bye week to refuel a bit and get back on and ride."

He'll also use it to make his first gameday visit this fall, heading to the Forty Acres with his father, Bobby Watkins, former Detroit Lions cornerback from Southwest Texas (now Texas State.)

Most looking forward to?

"Just the atmosphere, how it is on gameday. It's probably very hyped and crazy, so I'm excited… I'm really looking forward to watching (Quandre) Diggs and (Kenny) Vaccaro in the secondary."

It will be Watkins second trip to Austin this year, having visited in the summer. The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder holds an offer from Texas, among a heavy-hitting array of others like Alabama, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Stanford. Tennessee and UCLA joined Monday.

"My dad was talking about getting down to College Station this fall, and then maybe Alabama and LSU. It all depends on my dad and his schedule."

With a large decision ahead of him, Watkins declares he is in no hurry to make it.

"I feel no pressure at all because it's my decision."
